Troop 171 is a boy run troop.  That means the youth leadership (see Positions of Responsibility) plan and run the troop meetings with the guidance of the adult leaders. The youth leadership plans and organizes the meetings and activities in monthly Patrol Leader Council (PLC) meetings.

1.    Preside at all troop meetings, events, activities, and annual program planning conference.
2.    Chair the patrol leaders’ council.
3.    Appoint boy leaders with the advice and consent of the Scoutmaster.
4.    Assign duties and responsibilities to other junior leaders.
5.    Work with the Scoutmaster in training junior leaders.
6.    Set a good example.
